Glenn Dicterow is one of the world’s leading influencers in violin, having served as concertmaster for the NY Phil for 34 years. At only 11 years of age, Dicterow made his debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with a solo from Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. He would perform the concerto again at the age of 18 with the NY Phil. Dicterow is a graduate of the Juilliard School, having studied with Ivan Galamian, Jascha Heifetz, and other violin greats.
In 1980, Dicterow took up his mantle as concertmaster of the NY Phil. His career there is punctuated with unique highlights, including a solo in the orchestra’s 1982 White House concert. Besides his tenure in that esteemed role, Dicterow has become known as a prolific recording artist and pedagogue, holding an endowed faculty position at USC and oversight of the String Leadership Program at the Music Academy of the West. He is committed to bringing insights on leadership and musicianship to the next generation of top violinists.
