Elevate your artistry by mastering your color palette.

Is there any such thing as color at the keyboard? It turns out there’s a whole palette, wider than you might expect.

Renowned artist Boris Giltburg explains the “levers” built into the piano and the pianist’s body, and how working with them yields a range of possibilities in sound and color. He then applies these concepts to repertoire from Bach to Prokofiev, revealing how to bring body and mind together to maximize your creative expression.

  • Learn what ‘color’ means in piano playing, and how you can create it

  • Discover two core elements of sound production — arm weight and “active fingers”

  • Unlock new worlds of interpretive possibilities in every piece you play

COURSE CURRICULUM

Learn the nuances of sound and color, and enjoy greater creative freedom at the keyboard.

In this multi-part course, Boris Giltburg opens with a question: What does it mean to play with 'color' at the piano? He then breaks downthe pianist’s “toolbox” – including adjustments in muscle tension, touch, and finger attack, and explains how imagination is a key part of the process. Finally, Giltburg shares his process for developing a conception from studying the score, recording his practice for immediate feedback, and refining his interpretations via “sound studies” of iconic passages from Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Scriabin, and Prokofiev.
